St. Paul’s Summerfest 2017 will be held on Saturday, July 22 from 12:00 – 8:00 pm
St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Dallas invites the community to attend the annual St. Paul’s Summerfest, held on Saturday, July 22 from 12 noon-8:00 p.m. on the church grounds, 474 Yalick Road, Dallas, off Route 118.
Popular area musicians Jesse & Friends will perform from 3:00-8:00 pm, and the Hi-Lites Motor Club will present its classic vehicle display from 12 noon-4:00 pm, with as many as 60 vehicles to examine.
Jesse & Friends, a five-piece band located in the Wyoming Valley, is known for its engaging worship and praise, country, blue grass, gospel and rock and roll-influenced music. The band frequently performs at area festivals, nursing homes and auctions.
Visitors are encouraged to join the congregation for an outdoor service at 5:30 pm, with music provided by Jesse & Friends. The congregation is celebrating the 500th anniversary of the Reformation and Martin Luther, the founder of Lutheranism. Information about Martin Luther and the Reformation will be on display.
In addition, the Summerfest will host a blood drive from 9:00 am-3:00 pm. All those interested in contributing are invited to visit lifesourcepa.org and select “Make An Appointment” under “Donate Blood”; or call 1-866-996-5100. Walk-ins are also welcome.
Other Summerfest attractions include opportunities to adopt a new pet from the Luzerne County SPCA, and the Back Mountain Railroad Club, offering a display of model trains, invite everyone to dig out their old trains from basements or attics and run them on the club’s test track. In addition, Young’s Funny Farm from Berwick will display their therapy animals and the Dallas Days Bicentennial Committee will offer a community art and history display. A Silent Auction with themed baskets, a dunk tank, children’s games, bake sale, plant sale, and delicious picnic food will also be featured. Outstanding baked goods will be auctioned. A Lantern Launch at 8:00 pm will bring the Summerfest to a close.
